Strengthening and Empowering our Partners: A Story from Argentina and Paraguay

Amelia Casillas and Pedro Carlo Muniz

In our ministry within the churches in Argentina and Paraguay, it is our calling to affirm, to accompany and to offer our gifts and talents in the strengthening of the ecumenical and interreligious relations between our partners as well as to give follow up to any diaconal ministries in their communities. That is because Argentinian and Paraguayan Disciples seek social justice as an integral part of their identity as churches and their missional efforts have this particular direction. Nowadays, we recognize the legacy of the Disciples of Christ in these communities through their different social action projects and their participation on different human rights coalitions in both countries.

Along with social projects, we have been accompanying the churches in their leadership processes and clergy callings. It is important to continue empowering the youth and the women through ministry at church. Education and formation of a new generation of believers will allow both churches to embrace the future with solidarity and hope on the event of injustice, marginalization and gender violence in the communities where we serve.
